To make this handy little device I use a piece of 1-1/2"x1/8" flatbar and cut two pieces 2" long. Drill your hole, tap, and screw in the nipple. Then, mark the pieces and drill the two holes for mounting to the block. Once you have done this you will need to make gaskets. You can buy an intake and exhaust gasket but what I did is cut a few strips out of the leftover center piece of gasket from a sidecover gasket (no need throwing it away) and then fitted it to the plates. Bolt to block. Put a light coat of oil around the rim of the valves (I use 3in1 oil - cheap and light). Use the popoff guage and start pumping real slow. Make a note at what point the oil started bubbling up. If the valves are lapped and seated properly you should see it hold about 5 psi minimum. I've seen one sealed up real well and held 18psi! If you don't get what you are looking for then pull the lapping stick back out and get to work. Then start all over.
